Rudders for FITNESS kayaks
PLASTIC RUDDER
Our Plastic Rudder has designed to achieve good steering characteristics at a minimum drag. These balanced rudders have a 8 mm diameter stainless shaft, plain grinded from the rear and fixed to a nylon crosspiece with a bolt. Steering cords are attached to the ends of this circular crosspiece, resulting a sensitive & smooth understern steering system.
STAINLESS RUDDER
Narrow, low profile, unbalanced rudders (the shaft is connected to the frontmost part of the blade) is made up by durable stainless steel.
Key differences: unbalanced shaft, lower profile, narrow & more durable blade
The position of the shaft and the shape of the blade prevents the accumulation of seaweed. A popular choice for both long distance paddlers and for those who can't enter from a dock but directly from river- or lakeside.
Stainless Marathon Rudders are available in three sizes: Medium for K1s and swift FITNESS models, Large for K2s and wider FITNESS models & XL on request only.
However the blade itself is durable, aggressive longitudal crashes to riverbed may harm the boat hull. So for paddling in shallow rivers we advice overstern rudders (eg. Stainless Overstern Rudder "Klappsteuer").
