Single flat water canoe for children

KAPE Mini C1

We all want our children to be safe while experiencing the beauty of paddling, and above all, to have fun. The Hungarian "Minis" are the most widespread & wide range series of kayaks & canoes on the market encouraging youngsters into flat water racing.

The Mini series have been designed for young paddlers under the age of 13. For those who are about to meet the discipline of canoe sprint. Mini C1 is the best choice to learn the principles of flaw water racing, improve technique, posture and stability before changing to C1 canoes. These boats are stable enough and scaled down to match their size.

A complete series of kayak single (Mini K1 / MK-1), kayak double (Mini K2 / MK-2), kayak four (Mini K4 / MK-4) and canoe single (Mini C1 / MC-1) are available for junior trainers and coaches of kayak schools to pass the spirit to the new generation.

The standardisation of "Minis" (Hungarian example)

Mini kayaks and canoes were established in Hungary more than half a century ago, and since then they have been produced in large numbers by domestic manufacturers. They have always been an integral part of the successful development of youth sports. There are currently hundreds of Mini boats out there, mostly at clubs.

In 2016 the Hungarian Canoe Federation introduced the standardization of all Mini boats used in its competition system including all regattas held by the Federation. The goal behind is to ensure equal opportunities for children & clubs by excluding unhealthy rivalry for better equipment which would lead to inequality of opportunity, disproportion and enmity.

The standardization covers the bow & stern, the hull shape and the weight of the fully equipped boat. The shape, size & position of the rudder (& fin) is also defined. None of these can be a factor affecting performance. The Federation publishes the detailed technical description of each boat model. This description includes:

  • Main dimensions of the boat: maximum length (LOA), beam, minimum weight
  • Dimensions & drawings of bow, stern, keel & cross sections
  • Dimension & drawings of the rudder
  • Material used for construction

Manufacturers have to guarantee that the boat they produce meets these standards. This must be certified by a "conformity label" placed in the boat.

  • Length

    463 cm
  • Width

    52 cm
  • Stability level

    8/10
  • Boat weight

    14 kg
  • Paddler weight

    40 - 70 kg
CONSTRUCTIONS
We have our two basic constructions to choose from. They are set up in line with the requirements of clubs & associations. Most notably they are durable, allow more flexibility, easy-to-repair and offer a lower price point.

More about constructions

Constructions differ in the reinforcement materials used during the manufacturing process. These determine the stiffness and the interior appearance of the boat. In practice, an upper construction results a bit stiffer & more eye-catching boat.

Besides, the standard and available fittings may be also different in some constructions. These are listed at the "Fittings" section of this article.

  • STANDARD

Basic fiberglass construction for clubs and associations. They are easy to handle, maintain and repair.

    Single skin:
woven fiberglass and choppend strand mat

    Polyester resin

    Hand lay-up

    Stiffness

  • STANDARD+

Additional carbon-kevlar reinforcement provides some extra stiffness for heavy duty use. Still they are easy to maintain and repair.

Tips & more about the available colours

Think carefully about choosing black and dark colours!

Such boats warm up more & they become matt very soon. Scratches and limescale are also much more visible on these surfaces.

Less is more:

We recommend picking only two, maximum three colours for a coherent boat design.

More is more:

(Because of the overlapping gelcoat layers) more colours results in more weight.

RAL colors CANNOT be displayed entirely proper on computer screens. The color depends on your monitor and printer. Therefore the exact shade of the product may be different than seen here! Please use these color samples as a reference only! We recommend you to see a physical and official RAL color guide to be sure of the correct color.
