Greenland style fast touring / performance sea kayak

Low volume, fit & hard chined performance sea kayak of distinctive Greenland style. For intermediate and advanced paddlers.

Arctic 585 comes with the key features of the famous Greenland kayaks but has slightly more room for legs and a longer cockpit suitable for fitness kayaking, fast touring, day trips besides expedition use.

Hard chines along the hull provide good secondary stability to the boat edge and carve easily. Together with the low rear deck let you develop tricks in waves and make Eskimo rolls. The kayak has an impressive rocker along the keel line for easy maneuvers.

Tight fit is a well kept characteristic of Greenland style kayaks that "brings the paddler closer to the water", giving a full control over the boat that responds instantly to your moves. The Arctic 585 adapts to the style and cruising speed of the kayaker. It's true that the experience of kayaking is not determined by the boat itself, but its connection with the paddler.

Yes, we know that the skeg is the right equipment for a true Greenland style kayak, but hard core sea kayakers may forgive us to use rudder as standard. Of course, the retractable skeg is an option at no extra charge.

Ergo seat

The Zephyr 480 is equipped with robust yet comfortable seat with backrest.

Backrest

As standard the seat is fitted with a comfortable padded backrest that provides solid back support. Ideal for relaxed & long distance paddling.

Alternatively 6-point fastened backrest can be fitted. It is easy to adjust and provides free movement of the body. Good choice for carving and rolling.

SmartTrack rudder & pedal

A hajó alapfelszereltsége a "SmartTrack" farkormány. A farkormány "felbillenő", illetve a beülő mellett elhelyezett zsinór segítségével vízszintes helyzetbe felhúzva rögzíthető.

A kormányzás alapfelszereltség szerint kétoldali "SmartTrack" kormánypedállal, a lábfejünk segítségével történik. Ennek távolsága nagy tartományban, a hajóban ülve is állítható. Ez a pedáltípus a hajó belső oldalfalaira rögzített, így szűk terpeszben, a térdünket a beülő alján megtámasztva tudunk kényelmesen kajakozni. Pihenéskor lábunkat összezárva kinyújhatjuk azt.

Ha a hajót aktív sportolásra szeretnénk használni, vagy kajakozás közben hirtelen irányváltoztatásokra lesz szükség, úgy az intenzív lábmunkát lehetővé tévő, középső helyzetű kormánypedálos megoldásunkat ajánljuk.

Ez a pedáltípus a síkvízi kajakjainknál megszokott rugós szerkezet segítségével állítható, rá lábtámaszgurtni szerelhető.

Mint minden tengeri kajakunk, ez a típus is szerelhető szkeggel - de akár farkormánnyal és szkeggel együtt is.

Szkeg használatát akkor ajánljuk, ha a fordulás lapáttal, illetve a hajó élezésével történik. A szkeg csupán iránytartásra szolgál, amit a beülő mellett elhelyezett csúszka segítségével tudunk leengedni, illetve visszahúzni.

Ha a hajót (csak) szkeggel szereljük, úgy a "SmartTrack" kormánypedál felső, billenő részét elhagyjuk, így az egyszerű lábtámaszként funkcionál.

Compartments, hatches & deckfittings

A hajó három tárolórekesszel rendelkezik, amiket jól záró deklik fednek. Az elülső és hátsó tárolórekeszekben akár több napos túrázásokhoz szükséges felszerelést is magunkkal vihetünk, ami egyenletesen elosztható a hajóban. A kézközelben lévő "napi" tároló telefon vagy kulcs praktikus tárolásra szolgál.

A kajak deck része gumikötélzettel jól felszerelt. A kajak elején és hátulján a könnyű szállítást segítő fogantyúk találhatók.

Our composite boats are made in multiple constructions (layups). We designed them to meet the needs of as many recreational users as possible - from clubs & hobbyists to top-ranking athletes.

Different materials and technologies are used in each construction. They determine the weight, stiffness and interior appearance of the boat. In practice, an upper construction results a stiffer, more lightweight & spectacular boat, but it requires more caution during use

Tips & more about the available colours

Think carefully about choosing black and dark colours!

Such boats warm up more & they become matt very soon. Scratches and limescale are also much more visible on these surfaces.

Less is more:

We recommend picking only two, maximum three colours for a coherent boat design.

More is more:

(Because of the overlapping gelcoat layers) more colours results in more weight.

Availability of clear (transparent) surfaces:

Clear carbon seat & cockpit rim are available in EXTRA & ULTRA constructions.

Clear carbon hull is available in EXTRA & ULTRA constructions.
